On behalf of Manitoba Hydro, I’d like to thank you and your constituents for your support and patience as we worked to restore power to customers across the Province following the Thanksgiving Day storm. The massive scale and scope of damage to Manitoba Hydro’s system, combined with the adverse weather conditions made the recovery extremely challenging. Your support was instrumental in how quickly we were able to get everybody’s power back on.
With electric service now restored, we’ve turned our efforts in the field to cleaning up and salvaging broken and damaged equipment, poles, transformers, overhead wires and other materials. In our efforts to restore customers quickly as possible, these materials were left in place as we built new infrastructure or made repairs.
We are pleased to say that clean-up operations within the RM of Woodlands have been completed. However, as this work was completed on a best efforts basis, Manitoba Hydro recognizes that there could be instances where material may have been inadvertently missed and we would appreciate if you would continue to encourage your residents to be aware of any potential risks and hazards in their areas and to call 1-888-MB-Hydro and select option 3 “to report a power line down or damage to Manitoba Hydro equipment”. Or to call 911 if the damage looks recent or it’s felt it poses an immediate public safety hazard.
